The Honored Alumni Award is the highest honor bestowed upon Cal Poly alumni by the University’s Alumni Association. The award was established more than 30 years ago by the Association to provide recognition for outstanding graduates and former students of Cal Poly.
One Honored Alumni Award recipient is chosen every year alumni from the University’s seven academic colleges: Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences; Architecture and Environmental Design; Education; Engineering; Liberal Arts; Orfalea College of Business; and Science and Mathematics.
The Cal Poly Alumni Association presents the Distinguished Service Award annually to an alumnus or alumna who has demonstrated exceptional service to Cal Poly and the Alumni Association.
Awardees are honored each year during Homecoming at the Grand Reunion and Honored Alumni Banquet.
2009 Honoree: Wally B. Gordon, AIA
Wally B. Gordon (B.S 78 and B.Arch 80) was selected by the Cal Poly Alumni Association as the 2009 Honored alumnus from the College of Architecture and Environmental Design.
"Mr. Gordon is President of DLM and has more than 25 years of experience in architectural design and construction administration for public and private sector clients. Many of Mr. Gordon's efforts have involved coordinating and working with committees and community groups to provide appropriate avenues for effective planning solutions. Mr Gordon's experience also includes the technical coordination and execution of construction documents and construction administration for many school facilities."
In celebration of this honor, the Cal Poly Alumni Association will be
hosting the Honored Alumni Awards Banquet on
Friday, October 16, 2009 during Homecoming Weekend.
