CAED 70th Reunion

 

We know how busy everyone is, so we extended the late registration deadline to Monday, June 19. We're sorry we missed you this year as registration is now closed.

If you have already registered and paid, please email us with your Saturday night meal selection (Halibut, Chicken, or Ravioli), t-shirt size (for paid full weekend, Saturday Only, Young Alumni, and Mini-Weekend only), and the specific events you plan to attend. Emails should be sent to ascherz@calpoly.edu by Thursday this week.

By Thursday, June 22, we will provide you with maps, parking information, campus housing details, and more.

Parking after 5 pm Friday night, Saturday and Sunday are all complimentary on campus. If you are arriving on Friday before 5pm, please check-in at the main university Information Center Kiosk on Grand Avenue for parking and directions.

For those who are staying in our campus dorms, please check-in with Housing in Building 171A before 10 pm Friday and Saturday night. You will be provided a parking permit and keys at the housing check-in office. Once you have settled in, please join us at the Dexter Lawn at our tent.

Dominic Leong 

Dominic received his Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University, graduating with Honors, and his Bachelor of Architecture from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. He has lived and worked in Shanghai, Paris, and New York. In 2007, he was awarded the Architecture League Prize by The Architectural League of New York. Dominic has received recognition for his work that includes a Graham Foundation Grant for his interest in the role of research in contemporary architectural education and practice. 

In 2009, Dominic co-founded Leong Leong in New York. With a focus on architecture that generates cultural resonance, Leong Leong has completed a range of projects in New York, Los Angeles, Venice, Hong Kong, Seoul, and Napa Valley. Recently, Leong Leong was named the Architectural League of New York’s 2017 Emerging Voices firm. 

Dominic is currently Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, where he teaches Advanced Design Studio. He has been invited to speak about Leong Leong’s work at a wide range of institutions, including Columbia University, Princeton University, UCLA, Yale University, American Institute for Architects, and the US Pavilion at the 14th Venice Biennale. Dominic serves on GSAPP Alumni Board.

Campus Housing: Please remember, and remind classmates, that campus housing is not equivalent to that of a hotel or motel.
An entire apartment for four can be booked at the university’s family rate of: $218.50
Individual rooms are separated by gender
The pool is available for use
A communal space with a television is available
Parking is included (please check in to Bldg. 81 for permit)
One apartment has: four rooms and two bathrooms.

Marriott Courtyard and Apple Farm Inn. Contact each hotel listed below directly to make a reservation and receive the block group rate. The availability of rooms is on a “first come, first served” basis.

Refunds

Conference & Event Planning’s Refund Policy Conference and Event Planning must receive cancelation requests in writing 15 days prior to the event start date in order to receive a refund less the nonrefundable deposit and the 3% payment handling fee. NO REFUNDS will be granted for early departures, parking permits or citations, non-refundable deposits, or unused housing.

Please allow 4-6 weeks for the refund request to be processed. For payments made by check, any refund approved will be issued by check and mailed. For payments made by credit card, any approved refund will be credited to the same credit card.

Giving to the CAED

Students in the ARCH 241 - Architectural Technology Fundamentals class display their custom-designed and handmade bricks. With the support of WRNS Architects in San Francisco, the class traveled to Pacific Clay in Lake Elsinore to make the bricks, after firing, they were shipped up to Cal Poly.
