CAED Response to COVID-19
A message from Dean Christine Theodoropoulos, Monday March 23
Dear CAED Community,
Thank you to everyone for all of your efforts to conclude winter quarter successfully under extraordinary challenges. Congratulations to all of our students, faculty and staff who received numerous awards and recognitions for their outstanding work.
As we look forward to spring quarter, the College of Architecture and Environmental Design is collaborating with all units at Cal Poly to support the success of our students, faculty and staff as we do our part to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
All of the college’s majors will offer a full slate of courses spring quarter using remote teaching and learning methods as we stay in place. Students will not be required to be on campus for any reason during spring quarter and CAED instructional spaces will be closed to students for the remainder of the academic year.
CAED students will have remote access to the courses they need to be able to continue full time study. Our dedicated faculty will be using a variety of teaching techniques, such as remote labs and studios, remote reviews and public forums, and opportunities to practice with collaboration tools used by built environment professionals. We are looking forward to this historic challenge and invite you to share ideas for remote learning and teaching with one another.
I recommend checking in for updated information about Cal Poly’s response to COVID-19 at: https://chw.calpoly.edu/coronavirus and continuing to access other Cal Poly services through the university’s web pages.
The CAED IT team has compiled resources to assist faculty with remote instruction technologies at: http://www.caed.calpoly.edu/online-support-resources
Our college’s academic advisors will continue to provide students with appointment and drop-in advising at: http://www.caed.calpoly.edu/caed-advising
We are committed to the health and well-being of every member of our community and dedicated to continuing to support your personal, academic and professional success. Please know that you can reach out to me or any member of the college’s leadership team if you need assistance.
Sincerely yours,
Dean Theo
