CAED Computer Network Connection Guidelines

CAUTION:
These servers are not backed up and get wiped out and cleared off every July 1st. There will be no wired cable connections. Remember this is a privilege, so please keep your folder sizes to less than 1gig. The CAED is not responsible for any user's data loss.
The following steps are for both Windows and Apple computers
Step 1 - Make sure your computer has a wireless network card which uses 802.11b/g standard technology. If you do not have such a device check with the El Corral Bookstore. For more details on wireless visit http://mobilecomputing.calpoly.edu/
Step 2 - To get connected open any web browser as you normally would and try to connect to a website. Then follow the onscreen instructions to log in to the wireless system using your www.my.calpoly.edu user name and password. If you have any questions about your user name or password contact the Service Desk. Please note that you must have an existing Cal Poly account to log in.
Step 3 - Install Anti-Virus Software
Step 4 - For Windows user only, Install Anti-Spyware Software from Webroot Spy Sweeper
Step 5 - Check for the latest Windows or Apple updates and make sure your system is auto updating
