Volunteers Needed for Third Cal Poly Canyon Clean

October 15, 2016

SAN LUIS OBISPO —The college invites you to Canyon Days 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m Saturday, Oct. 15. It is an opportunity to volunteer alongside our students to clean up and make improvements to Poly Canyon as part of an effort to revitalize the area and repair damage caused by recent vandalism.

The Poly Canyon Structural Design Laboratory is home to more than 20 experimental prototypes, including sculptures and residential design/build projects. Many generations of students have worked on projects in the canyon, some dating back to 1964.

We are working to enhance the Poly Canyon Structural Design Laboratory, home to more than 20 experimental prototypes, including sculptures and residential design/build projects. Many generations of CAED students have worked on projects in the canyon, some dating back to 1964.

Volunteer jobs include painting, demolition, construction, landscaping and overall clean-up, in preparation for canyon tours that will be held Oct. 22 during Mustang Family Weekend, which includes Homecoming.

“Canyon Days moves us one step closer to providing future students an opportunity to experience what alumni have experienced in the past,” said Kevin Dong, CAED associate dean, “a rich and memorable Learn by Doing experience.”

We hope you’ll be able to join us for lunch and music at Canyon Days and help move us one step closer to providing future students an opportunity to experience the same fond memories that many alumni have of Poly Canyon.

To volunteer, contact Kevin Dong at kdong@calpoly.edu or 805-756-5371. Thank you!
